Buying wholesale plaster painting kits for resale starts with a product decision: are your customers buying a creative activity, a ready-to-give present or finished home décor? Each needs a different listing, presentation and budget. This guide helps gift shops, online retailers and small craft businesses prepare a first enquiry with an India-based supplier.
1. Choose a small range with a clear purpose
Start with a few designs you can explain well. A compact paint-your-own kit can suit an activity-gift range; a finished decorative tray serves a customer looking for something ready to display. Keep these categories separate in your listings so buyers understand whether painting is required.
Compare MoldMagik’s ready-cast plaster painting kits and decorative trays. Our painting-kit guidance is for teens aged 12+ and adults. Select products that match your audience and the guidance on the individual listing.
2. Compare the complete kit, not just the figure count
Ask for the exact designs, dimensions, number of pieces, paint colours, brushes and packaging included in each sellable unit. A three-figure kit with one brush is one packaged activity; it is not automatically three complete kits. Decide whether your customers need an individual gift or supplies to share.
Our wholesale packaging examples show pouch and cup presentations. They illustrate possible formats; the agreed quote confirms your actual contents and packing. Ask about sample or trial-order options and their cost before committing to a larger range.
3. Calculate your cost per sellable unit
Include products, transport, protective packing and any destination charges that apply. Confirm which costs the supplier’s quote includes. Then account separately for your selling-platform fees, local delivery and customer-facing packaging.
Planning formula: total stock and inbound-delivery cost ÷ number of sellable units = starting cost per unit. This is a planning figure, not your profit. Discounts, unsold stock and other business expenses still affect the result.
For an international order, state your country and postal code from the start. Ask for the quote’s currency and shipping basis, rather than assuming a domestic price includes delivery to your market. Confirm relevant destination requirements before ordering.
Example: compare the cost per retail kit
Imagine a quotation for 50 complete kits at 4 currency units each, plus 40 for transport and 10 for extra packing. The total is 250, or 5 per kit before any additional charges. These figures are hypothetical and are not MoldMagik prices. Use the currency and costs on your actual quotation.
If each kit contains three figures, you still have 50 sellable kits, not 150 complete kits. Dividing by figure count would understate your stock cost per retail unit. For an international order, add any separately payable destination costs before comparing suppliers.
Wholesale craft kits for gift shops: questions to resolve
Ask whether the packaging can be displayed as supplied, whether the designs can be mixed, and how many units of each design must be ordered. Request a photograph and contents list for the agreed presentation. Keep any sample cost separate from the main stock order until the supplier confirms otherwise.
For a product shortlist with dated retail examples and a quotation checklist, see our wholesale paint-your-own kit formats and pricing guide.
4. Check packaging for both transport and display
A retail pouch or display cup and an outer shipping carton have different jobs. Ask how the plaster pieces will be protected in transit and what condition the retail packaging should arrive in. For online resale, consider the extra protection needed when you send an individual order to your customer.
On arrival, compare the goods with the agreed specification and record any issues promptly under the applicable order terms. Keep the care guidance with your listings: plaster pieces are for indoor decoration, should be kept dry and are not intended for food or liquids.
5. Agree listing details before launch
Request accurate contents, dimensions and care information. Ask permission before using supplier photographs or branding. Private-label packing, marketplace permissions, dropshipping and exclusive territories need separate confirmation; a wholesale purchase does not establish those arrangements by itself.
