Bulk Plaster Painting Kits for Workshops: Planning Guide

Bulk Plaster Painting Kits for Workshops: Planning Guide

Planning a paint-your-own plaster workshop for teens or adults? Count complete participant setups before you buy bulk craft kits. The number of figures in a box tells only part of the story: everyone also needs access to brushes, paint, workspace and a safe place for the finished project to dry.

This guide covers ready-cast plaster pieces, which arrive formed and ready to paint. It suits craft studios, community groups and workplace craft sessions using products intended for ages 12+ and adults.

Choose between complete kits and figures-only sets

Complete kits can simplify distribution when each participant receives an individual pack. Check the exact contents: a multi-piece kit may include only one brush, and the paint quantity may be intended for the supplied pieces rather than a larger group.

Figures-only sets may suit a studio that already owns brushes and paints. Ask which designs and quantities are available, then include your existing supplies in the plan. MoldMagik figures-only enquiries are quoted individually; do not assume every retail kit is available in this format.

These MoldMagik sample photographs help you compare presentation and visible contents. They do not show the contents of one universal workshop pack. Confirm designs, dimensions, quantities and protective shipping packing in your quotation.

Four-figure pouch sample. The pictured sample includes four paint pots and one brush. Four figures do not provide four simultaneous painting setups.
Clear dome-lid cup painting kit with two white plaster figures, red and blue paint pots and a brush
Two-figure cup sample. Two paint pots and one brush are visible. Confirm cup dimensions and the separate protection used for transport.

Free workshop supplies and budget calculator

Download the Excel planner to calculate complete packs, extra brushes and materials cost per participant. It also includes a packing checklist. The editable example uses 24 participants; replace it with your event and the confirmed pack contents.

Open in Excel or import into Google Sheets. Enter quoted costs in one currency. Prices are left blank until you enter your quotation. Confirm paint quantity separately, and include additional tax only when it is not already included. The planner does not confirm stock or an arrival date.

Work out quantities with a simple example

Suppose you plan a session for 24 participants, with one figure each, plus one demonstration piece. You need 25 figures before adding any spares you choose to keep. If you order three-figure packs, nine packs provide 27 figures. But if each pack contains one brush, nine packs provide only nine brushes.

For everyone to paint at once with one brush each, that example needs at least 15 additional participant brushes, plus anything the instructor needs. This is a planning example, not a MoldMagik pack recommendation or stock commitment. Use the confirmed contents of your chosen product.

  • Figures: participants × pieces per person, plus demonstration pieces and chosen spares.
  • Brushes: count simultaneous painters and check the number supplied.
  • Paints: confirm colours and quantities for the selected projects; do not estimate from pot count alone.
  • Shared supplies: table covers, palettes, rinse containers, paper towels and labels.
  • Take-home packing: enough suitable protection for every finished piece.

Bulk craft kits for adults: budget per participant

Compare complete paint-your-own kits with unpainted plaster figures in bulk using the same participant plan. A figures-only price excludes supplies you still need to provide. A complete-kit price only covers the contents specifically listed.

Materials cost per participant = (figures or kits + additional paints and brushes + table supplies + take-home packing + delivery and other agreed charges) ÷ participant count. For a paid workshop, account separately for your venue, instructor time and other event costs.

Describe the unit clearly when requesting a quote: “30 individually packed kits, one per participant” is different from “30 figures with shared painting supplies.” Include the required figures and brush count so quotes can be compared on the same basis.

Match the project to the session

Choose simple shapes for a relaxed introductory session. More detailed pieces allow finer work but may need additional painting and drying time. Try the proposed activity before advertising a fixed session duration, including setup, the paint’s stated drying time and packing away.

Limit the initial palette to a few colours and show a simple design such as dots, stripes or blocks of colour. Allow participants to personalise their pieces. For a social event, a shared theme can bring the group together without requiring identical results.

Plan delivery before announcing the workshop

Send the supplier your event date and the date you need the materials in hand. Leave room to inspect the shipment and prepare the tables. Production or preparation time, transit and any destination processing are different stages; ask for each to be considered when confirming your order.

For international enquiries, include country, city and postal code. Confirm transport, protective packing and any destination charges, and ask which costs are included. An enquiry or retail shipping estimate is not a confirmed arrival promise for a custom bulk order.

Set up a practical painting space

Protect the tables and give each painter enough room to work. Follow the paint supplier’s instructions for use, drying, cleaning and ventilation. Keep materials away from food, younger children and pets. Label projects so they can dry undisturbed and return to the right person.

Finished plaster pieces are for indoor decorative use. Keep them dry and away from food or liquids. Painting alone does not make plaster waterproof. Let participants know how to look after their work and wait for the finish to dry before wrapping it.

Receiving and take-home packing checklist

  1. Before dispatch: confirm the sample, exact contents, fragile shapes and agreed protective shipping packing. A retail pouch or cup is presentation, not the complete transport specification.
  2. On arrival: count figures, paints and brushes against the agreed list. Keep the parcel and take clear photographs if pieces are damaged. Read the damaged-item and returns terms.
  3. Before the session: label drying spaces and prepare separate table supplies. Keep paint and plaster away from food and younger children.
  4. After painting: follow the paint maker’s drying instructions. Protect each dry piece against movement and contact with neighbouring pieces. Do not seal damp painted pieces in take-home packing.
  5. At handover: include a reminder to keep plaster dry, display indoors and avoid food, liquids and flames.

Agree any chosen spare quantity in the order. There is no assumed breakage rate or fixed number of free extras in this checklist.

Send a brief that gets a useful quote

Include participant count and age group, pieces per person, preferred designs, complete-kit or figures-only format, quantity of brushes and paint required, destination and required arrival date. Add your budget with its currency and any individual packaging requirements.
